Oeuf: Heavy Petal
Brooklyn based Oeuf are a family-run studio and one of our longest-standing sustainable children’s brands. Formed back in 2002 by husband and wife team Michael Ryan and Sophie Demenge, they have been with us here at Junior Edition since the Spring/Summer season of 2018 and continue to delight us season after season with their beautifully playful childrenswear collections.
Combining intuitive design with a clean and simple style this is clothing that is designed to be loved hard and handed down. We know from personal experience how well it wears and washes and how enduring the styles and designs are, having been passed from one child to the next here.
With a long history of sustainable and ethical production they are one of the most respected brands on the market and Oeuf have worked with some of the same people in Peru and Bolivia for the best part of 20 years now. They visit these artisans every year and, under fair-trade principles, work with closely them on both material sourcing and ethical manufacturing.
The materials used in Oeuf designs are always carefully considered - natural, renewable and recyclable. Soft, long-lasting and warm baby alpaca wool for example has low environmental impact and, being naturally hypoallergenic, doesn’t necessitate the use of harmful chemicals in production. Cottons are 100% GOTS certified organic Pima cotton and linens are breathable, durable and good to the planet - made from the water-conserving flat plant, it is biodegradable and naturally antibacterial. These are clothes that feel as good as they look.
For the latest collection ‘Heavy Petal” Oeuf have partnered with the wonderful Parisian artist Caroline Rennequin to create the original flower prints and, as always, it is the most beautiful collection, brimming with summer-weight knitwear, organic Pima cottons and breezy linen styles.
Our selection this season spans more than 20 pieces from newborn baby to 6/7 years and includes some wonderful accessories such as the Flower Necklaces too.
