YKRA backpacks and accessories are handcrafted with care in Hungary, from the finest quality materials, inspired by the vintage mountaineering gear of the 70’s.
Their passion for the mountaineering gear of the 70’s was the motivation to create colourful, vintage style backpacks that don’t just look good but are also functional for everyday use.
YKRA (pronounced eek-rah) started out from the basement of a bar in downtown Budapest. From the very beginning, they chose to support local businesses and workers instead of outsourcing production. YKRA are proud to create meaningful and well paying jobs in Hungary and throughout Central Europe. They source the high quality leather from Italy and instead of using plastic they use thick cotton canvas from the Czech Republic. All the metal accessories and webbing is made in Hungary. They focus on using all natural materials that will one day break down and disappear without a trace.
Each item is handcrafted with traditional manufacturing methods and made with care. The combination of high quality materials and attention to detail leads to long lasting products that age beautifully and acquire patina. We encourage you to use them for as long as possible, and repair them when needed, instead of buying a new one.
