Lali Kids: Inspired By Traditions From The Past
Lali Kids are new to Junior Edition for the Spring/Summer season of 2022. A line of clothing for both babies and older children that is rooted in nostalgia and draws its inspiration from historic traditions. Every new collection is as beautiful as the last - these are pieces to be played in, cherished and then passed down to be worn and loved again.
Lali Studio is a women-led collective that was founded by designer Kinnari McDevitt back in 2015. Passionate about native Indian textiles that are reminiscent of her own childhood, her collections showcase the traditional crafts of artisan printers, weaver and makers.
Having worked and grown with the same Fair-Trade Certified companies since its inception, this is clothing that both looks and feels good - ethically made, slow fashion that is woven, printed and produced sustainably with any scraps leftover from the main collection re-worked as accessories.
Each collection is inspired by the exploration of a child’s physical and emotional world. Prints and patterns that aim to foster the curiosity, spirit, and adventures of children.
Picnic in Provence is the Spring/Summer collection for 2022, capturing the spirit of a childhood holiday in Srinagar, Kashmir. Carefree days spent in the valley of flowers, long, leisurely walks and boat rides on the Dal Lake together with plenty of cake! Memories that are reminiscent of Monet's soft colour palette, inspiring prints and fabrics that carry the delicacy of soft watercolour paintings.
Amongst the pieces we have selected this season you will find a hand drawn lily pad print. Printed on soft textured cotton chex, the combination of the watercolours and the texture of the fabric makes for the perfect match.
A soft pink floral print can also be found on Kinnari's favourite ever cotton silk, a fabric that feels as rich and decadent as the mood of this collection. There's also a beautiful handwoven plaid fabric, lacy knits, vintage camisoles and delicate embroidery detailing across a number of pretty pieces.
We have chosen 16 pieces for the Spring/Summer season with selected styles starting as small as 6 months and going up as big as 12 years. We hope you love this collection as much as we do.
