Bachaā was created in Paris in 2019 as an expression of a love for and connection to India. The name Bachaā is the phonetic transcription of the sweet loving name that parents affectionately give to their children in Hindi (pronounced BaTchaA).
Bachaā create unique garments designed using artisanal processes such as block printing and hand embroidered details, with a strong ethical, ecological and environmental commitment to a responsible manufacturing process. They favour textiles from organic farming and are careful to limit their carbon footprint. Dyes are made on site and trims are found as much as possible in the local Indian market.
Ethical production in India has been key to Bachaā from the start, and factories hold SA8000 2014 and SEDEX SMETA certifications, which include stipulations relating to: the absence of child labor; the absence of discrimination and forced labour; compliance with international rules relating to the health and safety of workers, working time and compulsory rest time; freedom of association and collective bargaining.
