Minimalisma
Minimalisma is a timeless brand with a Nordic heritage founded in 2011 by Maja Akraberg, who had recently quit her position at a multi-brand fashion house in Copenhagen to move to Zürich in Switzerland to start a family. She still wanted a career that she could be passionate about, and decided to use her professional skills in a way that could be combined with having a little baby, incorporating minimalistic Scandinavian design with the finest qualities and luxury natural fabrics, inspired by both her fashion heritage and childhood in the naturally beautiful remote Faroe Islands.
Minimalisma's first collection launched in 2012, combining Nordic design and natural premium materials inspired by and suitable for her own daughter's highly sensitive skin. Silk plays an important part in the range, as silk is not only hypoallergenic, but can have a healing effect too, as it contains many antimicrobial materials with which the caterpillar protects itself during pupation. The healing and anti-inflammatory properties of these antimicrobial materials are also effective on human skin. Linen can also eliminate many types of skin irritations and cashmere is the softest wool available. These materials, along with the finest pima cotton, are also naturally eco-friendly too.
Minimalisma creates high-comfort garments from premium natural materials for little ones - premium quality garments that not only look good, but also feel good, with seamless silks and merino wools that are durable, stretchy and flexible, and represent excellent value for money in terms of longevity as because of their stretchiness they can be worn for a little longer than average baby clothes. Only the best skin-friendly natural fabrics go into their clothing, such as silk, merino wool, cashmere, alpaca and organic cotton. Designs are timeless and minimalistic, so they can be worn by girls and boys.
